Just as Real Madrid dropped out of the race for Paul Pogba and United looked set to seal the deal, they’ve been hit with a major set-back.
Mino Raiola, Pogba’s agent, has told The Times that his client may well stay in Turin past this window.
“There is a lot of talk about Paul’s future, but maybe he will not leave Juventus. He is in no rush to leave, and Juventus do not want him to go. They want him to renew his contract.
“Paul is not desperate to move. We are very happy at Juventus and they are a club that want to keep their star players.”
Raiola, who also represents United’s newest signings, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, may have an ulterior motive here. Reports had suggested that an official bid from United was on the way and this may be attempt to speed up that process or simply improve what is already on the table.
It is possible, of course, that he’s telling the truth and the French starlet could really stay at the Bianconeri.
Despite this update, we feel that Pogba will be striding out in the red of United once more, come the start of the new season.
