On Tuesday morning, the news was confirmed that Bastian Schweinsteiger’s Manchester United nightmare is over and that the German World Cup winner will be joining up with MLS side, Chicago Fire. 

Announcing the news via his official Twitter account, Schweinsteiger posted a short video message that was, as per usual, extremely classy.

Thanking the fans, staff and his fellow players at the club, Basti even went on to praise the man who had essentially outcast him from the Manchester United squad this season, stating that he believed Jose Mourinho would bring huge success back to Old Trafford in the near future.

“I really wished that I could have done more for you but it was time for me to make a change. Thank you especially for your amazing support during my time at the club, I will never forget it…

I would also like to say thank you very much to the wonderful fans, the atmosphere, and also the great staff at the club, and especially my fellow players.

I believe and I’m sure that Jose Mourinho and his team will bring back the trophies to Manchester United soon, so I wish you all the best. Thank you very much and goodbye.”
