Done Deal: Barcelona Sign Spanish International Striker For €32m

Barcelona have today completed the signing of Valencia captain Paco Alcácer, the club has today confirmed.

The move for the striker had been on the cards since reports broke earlier this month that Alcácer had become their prime target in their search for a backup forward for Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez and Neymar.

He was left out of the Valencia squad for last weekend’s 1-0 defeat at Eibar amid reports that a deal was close to being finalised, and the transfer has been concluded well in advance of Wednesday night’s deadline.

The 22-year-old has signed a five-year deal with Luis Enrique’s side, and takes’ Barca’s spending past the €120m mark following the earlier arrivals of Denis Suárez, André Gomes, Samuel Umtiti, Lucas Digne and Jasper Cillessen.

As part of the deal, promising Barcelona forward Munir El Haddadi has gone the other way, joining Valencia on a one-year loan deal with the option to make it permanent next summer for €12m.

The Spanish international had been linked with a move to Tottenham last week, but now moves to the Mestalla as something of a replacement for the departed captain.

Alcácer will be the first of two significant Valencia departures today. German international Shkodran Mustafi has joined Arsenal in a £35m deal, which will also be confirmed within the next 24 hours.
