Clásico rivals Barcelona and Real Madrid both released their away kits today, and both are of a similar colour.
The two Spanish giants have released a purple way kit for the new season – which may or may not be a tribute to legendary singer Prince, we’re not entirely sure.
Barcelona’s kit is immediately noticeable for the choice of socks they have decided to go with. While the purple of the shirts and shorts is relatively understated, attention is immediately drawn to the somewhat loud pink colour they are using for their socks…

While they have experimented with other colours for their away shirts in the past, purple is a new venture for them. The design itself is based on Nike’s “Vapour” template, used by the likes of England and France during this summer’s European Championships.
Real, meanwhile, are no stranger to purple away kits. It has become something of a tradition at Real that either their away or third choice strip would be some variation of the colour.

Incidentally, Real also chose today to officially launch their new home shirt for the home season, and from the look of the images it is almost certain to become a popular one.
Unlike the away kit, the Adidas stripes on the home kit run down the torso as opposed to on the shoulders – keeping in line with the manufacturing giant’s new standard template designs which, again, were on display during Euro 2016 and the Copa América.
