Guillem Balague has updated Arsenal fans in their club’s efforts to sign Atletico Madrid defender Jose Gimenez.
However, it is not good news.
The Sky journalist has been on Twitter regarding the Gunners pursuit of the Uruguayan star, but insists that Atletico are not concerned in the slightest because they are sure that Arsenal will not be willing to pay the player’s €65 million buyout clause.
Gimenez and Arsenal. Atlético are not worried about him leaving as they know Arsenal will not pay his €65m clause. He will stay

The news comes as an even bigger concern for supporters, with the deal supposed to bring Shkodran Mustafi to the Emirates from Valencia breaking down due to disagreements over the proposed transfer fee.
Arsenal started inexperienced duo Calum Chambers and Rob Holding in the defeat to Liverpool on Sunday, conceding four goals, and are desperate for a star quality acquisition in defence.
Wenger’s search for defensive reinforcements is running out of time with the transfer window soon closing, and the addition of a youngster from Bolton for £2m will not enable the club to challenge for the title.
At the moment, with the lack of Arsenal’s squad depth in quality, it is difficult to see how the London outfit will be able to compete for anything beyond fourth place, if that.
Aaron Ramsey is now also injured for a month due to Wenger’s negligence in selecting the Welshman last week, so now there is also a lack of a spark and creativity in the Arsenal midfield.
Mesut Ozil is not yet match fit either, and the team cannot be expected to rely upon Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain or Theo Walcott.
It’s not looking good at present for a team who have not won the league for twelve years.
