With negotiations between Arsenal and two of their star players winding on, Arsene Wenger has admitted they are facing some difficulties in negotiations.
Speaking earlier this week, Wenger stated that he felt confident that Mesut Ozil would eventually extend his contract at the Emirates. However, the Arsenal manager did suggest that the player’s wages were a factor that the club and the former Real Madrid man had not yet agreed on.
“If you have a good bank, call me,” Wenger said. “I don’t think he needs convincing. He wants to stay here.
“It’s not just money. Arsenal can win titles of course. But that’s what we have to show. We are in a league where Man City, Man United, Liverpool, Tottenham, Chelsea everybody fights and you cannot guarantee that to anybody.
“We keep that [negotiations] discreet. At due time we will come out with that. We want to keep our best players, of course. But the more I say that, the more he is in a stronger position.”

Speaking in advance of Arsenal’s Champions League match against Ludogorets on Tuesday afternoon, Wenger again addressed the ongoing negotiations with his two star men, stating that the situation is difficult and that the players are wanted by other clubs.
“It was always difficult.” said Wenger speaking of negotiations with his best players over the years. “What has changed is the numbers [wages], but it was always difficult to keep the good players because they are wanted by other clubs. Players want to get the maximum as they only have 10 years playing at the top level.”
With the Gunners currently in their best form in some time, Arsenal supporters will be hoping that Wenger can keep the current squad together as they look to finally lift the Premier League again in the coming seasons.
