Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger isn’t known for having the greatest poker face in the world, especially when it comes to signing new players.
The veteran Frenchman has been in the hunt for new attacking options this transfer season and while all he has managed thus far is the relatively unheralded Takumo Asano, the Gunners are reportedly very interested in Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez.
Numerous reports have surfaced in the last couple of weeks suggesting that a £37 million deal is being readied and that Mahrez himself has already agreed personal terms with the club.
Then yesterday, it emerged that Wenger had been seen watching Mahrez in Los Angeles, as Leicester city took on Paris Saint-Germain in a pre-season friendly.
While in the US with Arsenal on their own pre-season tour, Wenger was asked about Mahrez during a pitchside interview with Bein Sports, and while he admits little his poker face failed him yet again.

Wenger has been known for giving the game away in the past. The same smirk appeared when asked about signing both Mesut Ozil in 2014 and Granit Xhaka at the beginning of the summer.
Letting it slip again when asked about Mahrez means fans will be latching on to this as confirmation that a deal is either already done or is as near as makes no difference.
The timing of such a signing would be just what fans will want to see as Arsenal’s first game of the season is a huge clash with Liverpool on August 14th and Arsenal are seriously lacking in attacking options.
Has the wily Frenchman finally bagged his first big name up front?
