Arsenal have enjoyed a somewhat mixed start to the season.  The opening day defeat at home to Liverpool got things off to the worst possible start.  A convincing win over Antonio Conte’s Chelsea revived their hopes for the season while last weekend saw the Gunners struggling to break down a battling Burnley side, with a last minute winner sealing all three points,  all part of the opening six weeks of the season that saw the club celebrate 20 years of Arsene Wenger at the helm.

Alex Iwobi has played his part in the opening weeks and is a highly rated prospect at the club, with Wenger keen to tie down the talented player to the club with the offer of another new contract.

The Daily Mirror report Iwobi, who only signed an agreement worth £25,000-a-week last April is now in line for a further extension with Wenger seeing him as a big part of Arsenal’s future.

Iwobi is thought to have a big future in the game and has followed in the footsteps of his uncle Jay-Jay Okocha who starred in the Premier League with Bolton Wanderers.

The 20-year-old Nigeria international is not the only youngster Wenger hopes to tie down their best years to the club with talks also planned for Spanish full back Hector Bellerin to extend his current contract to ward off any potential interest from title rivals Manchester City, with reported interest from Pep Guardiola in his fellow countryman.

While speculation remains on the future of Arsene Wenger, having already spent twenty years at the club and now underway in his final season of his contract, his future may yet to be decided, he however wishes to ensure the future of the club is looked after with the extension of the contracts of both players who he believes will bring success to the Emirates.
