Arsenal Will Fancy Their Chances Of Progression After Europa League Quarter Final Draw

Arsenal have learned their fate as the Europa League quarter final draw has taken place in Nyon.

The Gunners made short work of Italian giants AC Milan in the last sixteen – and with the surprise elimination of Borussia Dortmund and Lyon at the same stage, Arsenal’s chances of winning the competition have increased.

Arsene Wenger’s side will come up against CSKA Moscow, one of Manchester United’s opponents in the Champions League before the latter were knocked out in the group stage.

Interestingly, the eight quarter finalists came from eight different countries, eliminating the possibility of two teams from the same league facing each other at this, or any subsequent round, for the remainder of this year’s Europa League.

Elsewhere, RB Leipzig have been drawn to face Marseille, tournament favourites Atletico Madrid will take on Sporting CP, and FC Salzburg, the first Austrian side ever to qualify for thie quarter final stage, will take on Lazio.

Europa League Quarter Final Draw:

RB Leipzig v Marseille

Arsenal v CSKA Moscow

Atletico Madrid v Sporting CP

Lazio v FC Salzburg

The first leg of the above ties will be played on Thursday April 5th, with the return leg taking place the following week.
