Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has reignited his long-standing rivalry with Jose Mourinho at a high-profile managers conference in at UEFA’s headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.
As reported by Marca, Mourinho was the very last manager to arrive as Sir Alex Ferguson prepared to deliver his welcome speech to the waiting masses in a group which included France legend and current Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane.
The Spanish news outlet then continued to explain one of the day’s most bizarre stories..
There were few empty seats but there was a space opposite Zinedine Zidane and Unai Emery so he asked if anyone was sitting there – the seats were not booked in advance.
“No, it isn’t possible,” was the surprise reply by none other than Arsene, without a moment’s hesitation.
The pair have infamously detested each other since 2004, and the resentment between the two intensified after Mourinho labelled Wenger as a ‘specialist in failure’ two years ago.
It will be quite some time yet before Arsenal face Manchester United in the Premier League however, as both managers look to win the bragging rights from one another.
Saturday the 19th of November will be the date that Old Trafford gives host to the Gunners, with United’s trip to the Emirates scheduled for the 6th of May, when both teams will have just three games to play.
We can’t wait..
