Arsenal: All I Want For Christmas Is…

What could Arsenal possibly want for Christmas? Besides the obligatory defensive midfielder of course.

The festive season is in full swing, time to crowbar all the festive cheer into three things Arsenal will want for Christmas.

1. A Defensive Midfielder

Will the fabled DM ever arrive at The Emirates? Do they even exist anymore? The last out and out Defensive Midfielder Arsenal had was Emmanuel Frimpong and that ended in less than DENCH circumstances.

But there are some potential targets that could find their way to the Arsenal come January. Lucas Silva is one, the 21-year-old Brazilian playing in a holding role for Cruzeiro. At only 21 there’s plenty of time for Arsene Wenger to play him out of position or train any defensive instinct out of him.

The Brazilian is linked with Real Madrid and Manchester United too. Be warned however as Pundit Arena’s Editor-in-Chief thinks he could be Michael Carrick 2.0.

The less conventional DM Yohan Cabaye looks to be heading out the door at PSG and would be a reasonably priced potential target for Arsenal. Then of course there’s the classic unknown Frenchman option,; Adrien Rabiot. The 19-year-old PSG player is set to leave in January or on a free in the summer. He’s more of a box-to-box type mind you and wouldn’t necessarily be the tough tackler the fans want.

2. Defensive Cover

Is ‘unlucky’ even the right word any more? Once again Arsenal have an injury crisis at the back. They’ll want at least one defender who can cover a couple of positions. Step forward Tyrone Mings. the 21-year old defender is a LB by trade.

However he’s been known to fill in at RB and standing 6″3 with pace he could be a future Arsenal centre-back.

3. A New Manager?

The #WengerOut bunch have been making their presence felt of late. It’s more likely that Arsenal will win the league this season than it is that Wenger will be sacked however. That being said the fan favourite to take over the role seems to be a certain Jurgen Klopp.

While Klopp would prove a good replacement, the slump Borussia Dortmund have endured this season is worrying. Perhaps a move to the Emirates is just what the doctor ordered.
