Arsenal have already signed a midfielder this January with Mohamed Elneny joining the Gunners from Basel. Following the acquisition of the Egyptian, it is believed that Arsene Wenger is now looking to sign a striker to ease the burden on Oliver Giroud up front.
Several names have been touted so far this month, with the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Edinson Cavani and Nolito all linked with a move to the Emirates.

However, a striker does not appear to be on the top of Wenger’s priority list.
The Independent are reporting today that the Gunners are targeting Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach.
The Bundesliga club’s sporting director, Max Eberl, has revealed that the club would consider selling the Switzerland international if the right bid came in for the 23-year-old.
Xhaka is respected by many, and was even described by Ottmar Hitzfeld as the ‘young Schweinsteiger’.
With Arsenal keen to bolster their side to make an assault on the Premier League title, FA Cup and Champions League, Xhaka would certainly be a valuable addition, and a player who could change a game.

This also adds fuel to the flames of the Aaron Ramsey to Barcelona rumours. The Welsh midfielder is said to be fancied by the European champions, with the Catalan giants set to test Arsenal’s resolve with a £60 million bid this summer.
