While Arsenal are set to announce a £50m double deal today, one of their former targets is set to join Paris Saint-Germain for around €75m according to reports in Europe this morning.
Bild yesterday ran with the story that Roger Wittman, the agent of Wolfsburg midfielder Julian Draxler, was in Paris to negotiate a deal with the Ligue 1 champions, a report that has since been backed this morning up by L’Équipe.

L’Equipe also claim reports Julian Draxler’s agent has been in Paris for last 3 days are true.

The reports have since gathered traction, to the point where some outlets are reporting that it is a matter of when, not if, Draxler will be joining PSG.
Arsenal had been strongly linked with a move for the German international throughout the summer, but despite the 22-year-old’s willingness to move to the Emirates, a deal between the two clubs could not be found.
Indeed, so eager was Draxler to leave Wolfsburg, he publicly stated on more than one occasion that he had told the Bundesliga side that he wanted to leave the club.
Draxler only arrived at the Wolfsburg Arena last summer, bought from Schalke for €36m as a replacement for Kevin De Bruyne. However, the side struggled last season and ended the Bundesliga campaign in a disappointing 8th place.
Paris Saint-Germain have been active in the transfer market this summer but are yet to recruit a marquee signing in the mold of David Luiz or Ángel Di María. The need to make a statement has increased dramatically recently due to their sluggish start to the season as they adapt to new manager Unai Emery and the loss of star forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Wolfsburg, despite their public stance on Draxler’s future (namely that his going nowhere), have already been making contingency plans for his departure. Reports this morning suggest that they have lodged a €28m bid for Tottenham winger Son Heung-min, who played for Bundesliga rivals Bayer Leverkusen prior to his move to White Hart Lane last summer.
The move to take Draxler to the Parc des Prices appears to be imminent (it would have to considering how close the window is to closing) but this one could still go either way until there is some sort of official confirmation.
