Arsenal’s midfield maestro Aaron Ramsey has stated concerns that he will not be fit in time for the start of the Premier League season in an interview with The Guardian.
Ramsey arguably outshone team-mate Gareth Bale for long periods in France during the European Championships, with the Wales star’s absence from the starting eleven against Portugal one of the instrumental factors to the minnows’ loss last night.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has had more time than most to educate himself on the appropriate recovery time for his players after international tournaments, and the Frenchman believes around four weeks is a suitable period for his stars.
Ramsey has understandably been given less than four weeks in this case with Arsenal’s opening clash against Liverpool on the 14th of August.
However, the 25-year-old does have until the 1st of August until he has to report for duty at the Emirates, which has placed valid concerns in the minds of both Ramsey and Arsenal fans that he will not be fit enough in time for what is an exciting encounter.
“I am back on 1 August, so I have a few weeks off but, obviously, it kicks off a couple of weeks afterwards,” Ramsey said.
“A few years ago, Germany won the World Cup and the German players came in just a few days before the first game of the season, but they missed that. He [Wenger] does like to give players a little break and I’ll be getting the same treatment. I feel I need a few weeks off now.”
Ramsey enjoyed a terrific 2014/15 season in Arsenal colours, but struggled to maintain his form last campaign as Arsenal finished second to Leicester.
However, after what surely is a major turning point in Ramsey’s career, the Welshman is sure to lead the fight with his drive and fire in midfield for the Gunners as they look to win the Premier League.
Unfortunately for Arsenal fans, it looks like Granit Xhaka will have to accustom himself to the Premier League without the aid of the former Cardiff man for the first few weeks of the season at least.
