Whatever small hopes of Arsenal winning the Premier League title seem to have been dashed today, as the Gunners failed to win against West Ham in a thrilling 3-3 draw.
While today’s scoreline would not suggest it, one of the main problems this season has been the lack of firepower up front.
Theo Walcott has been majorly inconsistent, while Oliver Giroud is simply not going to score enough goals to spearhead a title challenge on his own.
Therefore, the North London club need to look elsewhere.
There were several reports in January that Arsene Wenger was hot on the heels of Borussia Dortmund frontman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, but the Gabon striker denied such links.
However, according to several reports today, including The Guardian, Arsenal are set to swoop for Juventus and Spain striker Alvaro Morata.
The 23 year-old is one of the hottest commodities in Europe at present, having left Real Madrid for the Turin side in 2014.
The Spain international is currently under a long term contract with the Old Lady until 2020, and therefore the English side may have to fork out up to £30 million to secure his services.
Nonetheless, Morata would be a quality signing for Arsenal, and could bolster a real title challenge next season.
