Arsenal are set to move for reported Manchester United target Fernando Llorente, according to Corriere delle Sport.
Llorente, 30, has struggled for consistency since his move to Juventus from Athletic Club in July 2013, and as reported by Pundit Arena, another of Louis Van Gaal’s targets appeared to be the Spaniard.
However, according to the Italian newspaper, Llorente’ agent had travelled to London earlier in the week to discuss a potential £8.5m move to the Emirates Stadium.
It’s clear Arsene Wenger needs a striker to be able to mount a real challenge for the title, but it is difficult to see that man being Llorente after rumours of a move for Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema halted.
With Olivier Giroud, Danny Welbeck and Theo Walcott at Wenger’s disposal, none of his forwards possess world class quality at their feet. It seems the club will have to contend with Alexis, Cazorla and Özil, a trio with magnificent attacking prowess. Unfortunately for Arsenal, it looks like they won’t be seeing Benzema in their kit any time soon, though Llorente is a very possible option.
