With Arsenal’s midfield jammed with impressive options, now including Granit Xhaka, it was always going to be difficult for young players to break through.
According to Sky Sources, 21-year-old Isaac Hayden is set to leave the Gunners after seemingly deciding that he had to go in search of more first team opportunities.
Newcastle have snapped up the English starlet and he is reportedly on the verge of signing a five-year contract, subject to a medical.
The youngster made just two appearances in the red of Arsenal, both coming in the league cup.
Hayden spent last season on loan with Hull as Steve Bruce’s side regained their Premier League status once again. While there, he made 24 appearances bagging a solitary goal.
He made several appearances for England youth teams, impressing many with his powerful style of play.
The club’s official website describes him as:
“Composed on the ball, strong in the tackle and capable of playing in central midfield or in the heart of defence.”
There’s been no official confirmation at the time of writing, but this one looks like it’s locked in.
