Arsenal have triggered the release clause of Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy, according to reports this evening.
The 29 year-old was one of the stories of the season last year as the Foxes marched to the most unlikely of Premier League titles, but now it appears that the club may struggle to hold onto him.
Vardy is currently on international duty, and is heading to France with England for Euro 2016.
The striker found the net 24 times last season as Claudio Ranieri’s side shocked the world and captured the title, and despite the fact that he was adamant that he wants to stay put, Arsenal appear to have launched a serious bid to capture his services.
The Gunners finished in second place behind the champions.
Understand that Arsenal have triggered the release clause in Jamie Vardy’s contract. Leicester still determined to keep hold of him.
