BBC And Sky Journalists Provide Huge Updates On Lucas Perez And The Rest Of Arsenal’s Transfer Dealings

Deadline Day is just a matter of  days away and Granit Xhaka remains Arsenal’s only major signing this window.

Reports swirled this morning that Deportivo La Coruna’s Lucas Perez would soon be arriving with a deal all but done. BBC journalist David Ornstein has taken to Twitter to (slightly) contradict the claims.

Kaveh Solhekol of Sky Sports, meanwhile, preaches a more positive message, saying Arsenal are “about to beat Everton” to the goalscorer’s signature.

Ornstein also discussed the club’s spending as we edge towards the end of the transfer period.

If the Gunners are only willing to part with less than £100 million this year, the arrival of both Perez and a defender would most certainly be in doubt. If Wenger truly wants to compete for the title, he’ll have to go over his initial budget. It’s anyone’s guess whether or not he will.

Arsenal fans are understandably furious with the news of the Spanish striker’s seemingly imminent arrival at the Emirates.
