The mid-season football transfer window is a mere four weeks away and already the rumour mill is cranking up, with Julian Draxler the latest name to be suggested with a move to the Premier League.
Arsenal were tipped with securing the services of the Germany international during the summer but following weeks of speculation, the new league season began with the winger still employed by Bundesliga side Wolfsburg.
Now, according to the Telegraph, the 23-year-old has once again been tipped with a move to the Emirates Stadium next month. Reportedly ‘desperate’ to leave in January, Draxler has admitted that getting booed by his own fans at the weekend was hard but that he remains steadfast in his desire to leave.
“I don’t think I need to tell anybody what [being booed] does to a person – it certainly doesn’t help you.
“There’s no doubt it makes it hard for you to perform on the field.
“I can understand the fans, though. They have every right to do that. I said in the summer the way I feel and I stand by that.”
Arsenal are currently sitting in second place in the Premier League table, having negotiated their perennially difficult November fixtures without being dealt a fatal blow to their title aspirations.
With a midfield that is already stacked with talent but with the future of Santi Cazorla still to be decided, the 23-year-old German, who is known for speed, intensity and abilities on the ball, could be a very positive addition to Arsène Wenger’s squad for the second half of the season.
It must be noted however, that with both Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez still in contract negotiations and reportedly seeking massive pay rises, it remains to be seen if Wenger has either the funds or the appetite to fork out for what would like be a very expensive addition to his team.
