After a number of rocky years, bouncing from club to club, Nolito has turned it around in impressive style.
His goals for Celta Vigo earned him a place in Spain’s starting line-up for the European Championships and, a number of big name suitors.
BBC Sport’s Simon Stone has revealed that:
“City will meet an 18m euros (£13.8m) release clause in Nolito’s Celta Vigo contract, which expires in 2018.”
Arsenal and Liverpool had been mooted as possible destinations for the forward by TalkSPORT back in January, but now it seems they will miss out.
Barcelona were also reportedly interested in bringing the Spaniard back to his first club but the allure of working with Pep Guardiola once more was obviously enough to bring Nolito to the Etihad.
Whether or not Arsenal or Liverpool were genuinely interested in the 29-year-old is anyone’s guess but regardless, one of Europe’s top attackers has been snatched up by City.
