Multiple Sources Link Arsenal With Predictable £40 Million Move For Real Madrid Attacker

Arsenal

Express have claimed that Arsenal are preparing a £40 million bid for  a Real Madrid and France international.

Citing Merca Futbol as their source, the English news outlet have given substance to the rumours that the controversial former Lyon striker will finally arrive at the Emirates after the 2016/17 season.

Benzema, who has been linked with a move to the Gunners for a number of seasons, fell out of favour with his national team after it was revealed that he used a sex tape of Matthieu Valbuena in order to blackmail the Marseille midfielder.

The Mirror have also backed the story that Benzema will lead the line for the North London outfit.

Zinedine Zidane is said to be not keen to sell his compatriot, but after the arrival of Alvaro Morata from Juventus, the fee reportedly offered by Arsenal could prove too tempting for the Spanish giants.

However, Los Blancos are currently serving a transfer ban which is yet to be overturned, despite Madrid’s promise that they will take the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Arsenal

Arsenal have been utilising Alexis Sanchez up front this season with Olivier Giroud struggling with injuries, and the Chilean has been in sublime form, with the impressive Alex Iwobi taking his place on the left wing.

However, the addition of the 28-year-old from Madrid would certainly add another world class player to the plethora of options available to Arsene Wenger, who might not even be in charge of the club come this time next season.

Wenger, who celebrated his twentieth anniversary in charge of the club this week, has a contract which runs out at the end of the season, with no indication being made by either side that there will be any form of contract discussions as of yet.

Diego Simeone has been linked, as has Eddie Howe, who might both find the prospect of managing a player as well regarded as Benzema alluring.
