Arsenal have been linked with a move for Julian Draxler for a number of seasons.
It’s fair to say that at this point Julian Draxler has become the new Karim Benzema for Arsenal fans.
Over the course of a number of seasons the big french striker had been perennially linked with a move to the Gunners, but nothing ever came of Arsenal’s reported interest.
The same can be said of Julian Draxler, who the media have continued to associate with a move to the Emirates Stadium, but very few concrete details ever emerge.
Indeed, the German international shocked many observers when he decided to join Wolfsburg in August 2015, despite apparent interest from a litany of bigger clubs.
However, Draxler’s time at the Volkswagen Arena could be coming to a close. Although we have read similar stories in the past, Wolfsburg this season find themselves in the wrong half of the Bundesliga table with a squad of players who are apparently unhappy.
The club’s sporting director Klaus Allofs has also hinted at Draxler’s impending exit, telling German TV channel Sport 1;
The story doesn’t help him, or Wolfsburg. It was catastrophic for the player. We may evaluate the situation differently, and may do things differently next time.
Does this mean letting him leave? Potentially.
Although Allofs has since rowed back on his position claiming the club were not planning to sell anyone, his earlier statement set tongues wagging.
As a result, numerous clubs have once again been linked with a move for Draxler, including Arsenal and Juventus.
However unlike previous seasons when the attacker has been valued at in an around £50 million, The Sun believe Draxler could be available for as little as £25 million.
Even at such a discounted price, we won’t believe Arsenal are making a move for Draxler until he is in fact lining out in the Gunners’ famous red strip.
