Arsenal have made contact with Sao Paulo’s Marquinhos Cipriano, the Brazilian side’s 17-year-old wonderkid.
Marked as a future star for the club, the South American outfit has slapped a staggering £23 million release clause on the youngster’s contract.
According to ESPN Brazil, via the Express, the Gunners are one of two clubs who have been in contact with Marquinhos’ representatives following a season that saw him notch 14 goals in 12 games.
The second club, Juventus, have also been keeping tabs on the highly rated youngster and with top European clubs eyeing Paul Pogba, the Serie A side will be keen to have options should the French international leave this summer.
As for Arsenal, Marquinhos is seen as a top prospect and the North London side are keen to bring in new talent at the Emirates. It is not known if the release clause is something of a sticking point for the Arsenal manager but it must be said that £23 million for an Under 17 player is certainly expensive even in this day and age when valuations north of £120 million are being to be made for players.
As has been seen in this transfer window, anything is possible, so why not a massive bid for a talented teenager?
