Following a disappointing end to last season, Arsenal are keen on bolstering their squad so they can challenge for honours next year. The Gunners have already announced the signing of Granit Xhaka amongst others, and now Arsene Wenger has his sights set on more acquisitions.
According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal are closing in on the signature of Japan international Takuma Asano, and are eager to close the deal in the coming days.
The 21 year-old striker is highly rated, and has been capped four times for the Japanese national team, and scored his first international goal against Bulgaria last month.
Should he join the Gunners, it is likely that he will be loaned out for his first season as Wenger views him as one for the future.
This would be a positive move for Arsenal considering that they need more strength up top with Olivier Giroud currently carrying the entire scoring burden.
Having fallen off the pace in the title race behind Leicester City and Tottenham in the spring last year, Wenger will know that despite ultimately finishing in second place, they were not up to scratch need more firepower.
This is a move that makes sense for the Gunners, but the reports are not yet widespread.
