Arsenal star Jack Wilshere is moving closer to the Emirates door as news of successful talks with Crystal Palace emerge.
In what has become the most shocking story of the week, for Gunners fans at least, Jack Wilshere looks set to end, for now, his injury riddled Arsenal career with a move across town to Crystal Palace.
According to the Mirror, the Selhurst Park club have become clear favourites to sign the 24-year-old, with reports of an incredible 22 offers from clubs including Bournemouth, Watford and West Brom.
Serie A side Roma and La Liga side Valencia also expressed interest in the midfielder and it was initially expected that a move to the continent would be the most likely outcome for the talented playmaker.
Now, following talks with Palace manager Alan Pardew, Wilshere is close to a season-long loan move that will see him remain in the capital, something that, according to the player’s father, appeals to him as it keeps him close to family and friends.
A spell away from Arsenal looks like the only option available to England international as he strives to rehabilitate a promising career that has been blighted by injury since his arrival on the scene back in 2008.
With 154 games missed through injury since 2009, it is clear that Wilshere has been one of the Premier League’s most absent players and it is hoped that a move might allow him finally get some consistent game time and overcome the injuries that have hampered him so far.
With only hours remaining in the transfer window, a deal with Palace now seems the most likely outcome, with the expectation that both sides will move quickly to ensure a positive outcome.
Stay tuned for more.
