Arsenal are hoping to secure the signing of a young Serbian who has been branded as ‘the new Messi’, according to reports in Spain.
Arsene Wenger is apparently intent on moving for 19-year-old Andrija Zivkovic who has been repeatedly labeled as the ‘Serbian Messi’.
However, the Gunners will face stiff competition for the winger as reports suggest that several other top sides in Europe are also interested in poaching the young talent.
According to AS, Villarreal, Valencia and Tottenham Hotspur are all tracking Zivkovic’s situtation with Atletico Madrid believed to be Arsenal’s biggest stumbling block as they have already made contact with the representatives of the young Serbian.
Zivkovic was a member of the Serbia national U-20 side which won the 2015 U-20 World Cup in New Zealand, defeating Brazil in the final. The winger was one of the best-performing players in the competition, scoring a total of two goals.
Currently representing Partizan Belgrade, Zivkovic’s contract will expire next summer, which means that he will be available at a cut-price this January. This deal has ‘Arsene Wenger’ written all over it and, it would be no surprise to see the youngster in the Emirates in 2016.
