Arsenal Have Finally Confirmed The Club-Record Signing Of Alexandre Lacazette

Alexandre Lacazette has been on Arsenal’s radar now for several transfer windows and the deal has finally been completed this afternoon.

The Frenchman has been a central part of Lyon’s resurgence in recent years and last season boasted the best big chance conversion rate of any striker in Europe’s top five leagues. He led his side to a Europa League semi-final this year and there’s little doubt that at 26, he finally looks like the proven striker Arsenal have been crying out for.

The club confirmed the deal on Twitter on Tuesday with the forward having completed his medical at the club that morning.

The fee is reported to be in the region of £52 million with the player signing on a five-year deal. Lacazette is the Gunners’ second signing of the summer following free agent Sead Kolasinac in the door. However, if Arsene Wenger wants to break back into the top 4, let alone challenge for the title, several more additions are a must.

Lacazette bagged a phenomenal 28 goals in 28 starts in Ligue 1 last season, albeit in a league of lesser quality. That being said, if he can replicate anything approaching that kind of form in an Arsenal shirt, it will be a tremendous signing.
