Chelsea muscled their way to top of the table on Sunday with a hard-fought 1-0 win away to Middlesbrough. The goal was expertly poached by Diego Costa and the game saw Chelsea’s clean sheet streak in the league run to six games.
Arsenal fans, however, seemed unconcerned with such statistics, and were more interested in something that happened after the game.
Arsenal defender Calum Chambers, currently on loan at the Riverside, was seen allegedly asking match-winner Costa to swap jerseys after the final whistle. Given Chambers’ London allegiances, and the fractious (at best) relationship between Costa and the Gunners it perhaps wasn’t the best move.
The Emirates faithful have wasted little time in turning a seemingly innocuous move into a fully fledged calamity, via Twitter.
Calum Chambers asking Costa for his shirt!? Calum is a arsenal player on loan and just got beat, by a goal from … Costa. Muppet

Although not everyone subscribed to the view that he was deserving of such vitriol.
Crikey ! #afc fans beside themselves ’cause Chambers asked for Costa’s shirt after Sunday’s game. What an insecure, petty bunch of losers.

Indeed, some were even mature enough to focus on what had been a positive performance by the defender. The tweet below turned out to be quite prophetic, although who would have thought the ‘mistake’ in question would come after full-time?
