While most of the transfer rumours coming out of the Emirates point towards Arsene Wenger strengthening his forward line, the French coach is also looking to reinforce Arsenal’s defence.

According to The Mirror (via Sky Italia), Inter Milan centre-back Jeison Murillo has been linked with the London club in a deal worth around £15 million.

Representatives from both clubs have already spoken and the deal could be completed within the next two weeks before the Premier League season kicks off in August.

Inter Milan are yet to hold talks with the Colombian international in regards to a new contract, having only signed for the Italian club in February 2015.

The 24-year-old made 34 appearances for Internazionale last season, managing two goals and one assist and featured in every game during Columbia’s recent Copa America campaign.

The move, if successful, will give Wenger some breathing room with his back line. Calum Chambers is currently the only experienced centre-back available to replace Per Mertesacker and Gabriel, showing a lack of depth in the squad.
