With Celtic out of contention, Arsenal are now the last British team standing as the Europa League progresses to the round of sixteen.
Arsene Wenger’s side survived a scare against Swedish side Ostersund at the Emiartes on Thursday night with a 4-2 aggregate victory enough to see the Premier League giants progress.
With their top four prospects looking bleak right now, the Europa League is Arsenal’s best bet of getting back into the Champions League next season, but to to so they know they will have to get past some formidable opposition.
In the immediate future, standing between the Gunners and a place in the last eight is AC Milan. The Italian giants are not the force they once were but they have been faring well under new manager Gennaro Gattuso and will fancy their chances of derailing Arsenal’s hopes of winning the trophy.
Elsewhere, Celtic’s conquerors Zenit have been drawn with Bundesliga side RB Leipzig, Atletico Madrid will face Lokomotiv Moscow and Dortmund will face Red Bull Salzburg.
