Arsenal boss Arsène Wenger has publicly stated that he wants to sign an experienced striker before the beginning of the new Premier League season in two weeks time.
Speaking at a press conference in America, where overnight, his Arsenal side took on an MLS All-Star XI that featured former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba, Wenger admits,
“I have, at the moment, not too many attacking options of experienced players”
“Let’s not forget that we still have a few players at home and a few players who didn’t play today like [Santi Cazorla]. And of course we have [Mesut Ozil] and [Aaron Ramsey] at home. And [Olivier Giroud] is not here. ”
“So we have options, but we still look outside to find one more”
Wenger’s admission has, according to the Evening Standard, hinted that the Gunners are planning a further, improved bid for Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette, following the rejection of their initial £29.1 million bid this week.

With reports also suggesting that Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez has already agreed terms with the London club, it could well be that Wenger’s persistence is about to pay off.

With a series of failed attempts to sign Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy and the Juventus bound Gonzalo Higuain, Gunners’ fans have been left lamenting a summer of missed opportunities.
Now however, with Wenger still in the hunt for two potential quality targets, it could well be that come August 14th, the veteran manager could boast one of the Premier League’s most impressive forward lines and see them finally challenge for the title once again.
