Arsenal youth team graduate Jeff Reine-Adelaide’s promotion to the Gunners first team has been confirmed with him being handed the number 31 shirt for the coming season.
Speculation over the future of the 18-year-old midfielder increased over the summer when it was noted via the Arsenal website, that the young Frenchman was no longer listed in the youth team bios.
Now, confirmed on the Arsenal website, the youth team graduate is listed with the stars of the first team, with the number 31 shirt now set to carry his name. His promotion by Arsene Wenger is a just reward for a string of assured performances with the U18 and U21 sides last season.
With the growing list of injuries that have befallen the London club this summer, Reine-Adelaide may now find himself being called upon far sooner than expected. Injuries to both Aaron Ramsey and Alex Iwobi during the season opener against Liverpool, plus the long term injury to Danny Welbeck, leaves the attacking roster suddenly short on depth.
One man’s loss is another man’s gain as they say, and fans may see the no. 31 shirt within the match day side as early as this weekend perhaps, when Arsenal face Leicester at the King Power Stadium.

That right there is a star in the making. Now all Wenger has to do is kept that injury hex away from his young recruit.
