The Antoine Griezmann to Manchester United rumours will just not go away as Jose Mourinho reportedly tries to lure the Frenchman to Old Trafford this summer.

Manchester United have lacked creativity at times this season that has seen them fail to finish off teams they have dominated, resulting in seven draws at home to much inferior opposition. As a result they remain in sixth position despite going on a unbeaten run since October.

The Atletico Madrid star had been linked with a move to Manchester in the hope he could help solve their creative struggles.

However, recent comments from the 25-year-old suggest he has no reason to leave Spain and has all but ruled out any potential summer transfer.

As reported in the Daily Mirror, Griezmann told Spanish TV channel LA1:

“I always get the same questions about my future and it is getting a bit tiresome.

“Like I always say, I am very happy here at Atletico and in Madrid.

“The weather is great, my teammates are some of the best you can have and I am working with a great coach.

“So I am feeling very well here. I see no reason why I would want to leave.”

It had been hoped his French teammate and friend Paul Pogba might have helped lure the playmaker to Old Trafford but Griezmann’s latest comments suggest he will not force through any move and is more than happy to stay in La Liga, with the good weather being a factor. The Manchester rain could perhaps prove a stumbling block.

The player also highlights his appreciation for his manager Diego Simeone, who himself is being linked with a move away. If Simeone were to leave it may also lead Griezmann to reassess his own future.

However, the player is backing his manager to continue:

“He’s very happy here and he feels the team has a lot more to give.

“He also wants us to go far in the Champions League and in La Liga so I am sure he’ll continue.”
