Ligue 1 side PSG have been linked with Argentinian winger Angel Di Maria for over 2 years now but according to French paper Le Parisien, the saga is now finally over.
Le Parisien have today reported that the former Real Madrid player has agreed a five year contract with the French giants.
Prior to the opening of this transfer window, it was believed that Di Maria was out of PSG’s price range due to financial fair play restrictions. However, as those very restrictions were essentially removed last month, the big spending French side are once again free to splash the cash.
Di Maria was signed for a record breaking £59.7m only last summer, however a poor debut season in the Premier League has apparently unimpressed manager Louis van Gaal and it had previously been reported that the club were willing to sell.
According to Le Parisien, Di Maria has now “verbally agreed” a five year deal with Laurent Blanc’s side and once the clubs agree on a fee, then that’s that. Several reports have suggested that United are willing to accept a fee of €60m which would be a substantial loss on the fee they paid only last summer.
So is Di Maria really off to France? France Football yesterday reported that a fee had been agreed between the clubs. Today, Di Maria has agreed terms… We get the feeling that there is still a long way to go in this one.
Having said that, the fact that The Red Devils have now completed 4 summer signings has suggested to many that another big star will follow Van Persie out the door. Don’t be surprised if it’s Angel Di Maria.
