Liverpool have reached the knockout stages of the Champions League with a 7-0 hammering of Spartak Moscow.
The result sees Jurgen Klopp’s side top the group, while a draw would have also been enough to see them reach the last 16.
As it turned out, there was never any fear that this fixture would end in any fashion but a convincing Liverpool victory. 1-0 up within a minute courtesy of a Phillipe Coutinho penalty and 3-0 to the good before the clock had hit 20 minutes, the Reds romped to an absolute annihilation of Spartak, who truly disappointed on their visit to Anfield.
Coutinho went on to complete a hat-trick on the night in the second half while Roberto Firmino netted, Sadio Mane grabbed a brace and Mo Salah bagged a goal to ensure his incredible run of form since joining the club continues.
Liverpool’s obliteration of the Russian side saw them amass a tally of 23 goals this group stage campaign, the most ever recorded by an English team in the Champions League.
