The Experimental Starting XI That Manchester United Should Deploy Vs Bristol City

Manchester United head to Ashton Gate to take on Bristol City in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.

With Manchester United presenting the only semi-legitimate challenge to Pep Guardiola’s historic title charge with Manchester City, very few player’s on the fringes of the first-team squad are being afforded playing minutes.

Axel Tuanzebe is being talked about as one of the best young defenders to come through the United academy in the past decade while Angel Gomes has repeatedly been compared to a young Lionel Messi.

As such, the Carabao Cup clash with Bristol City should present Jose Mourinho with the opportunity to give his gifted youngsters a rare outing in United’s starting XI.

Meanwhile, the likes of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Luke Shaw are also looking to break their way back into the first team picture having been cast into the wilderness at different stages this season.

Paul Pogba is also in desperate need of some competitive football having missed the last three league fixtures through suspension while the cup tie should also present Zlatan Ibrahimovic with the perfect opportunity to bag a comeback goal since returning from a lengthy lay off as a result of a cruciate injury.
