A month which many were predicting would damage the medium term future of Arsenal Football Club is beginning to look up for the Gunners. There were fears that they would lose Alexis Sanchez for a low price, given that his contract was due to be up in the summer. With Mesut Ozil also yet to sign a new deal, the Emirates faithful were bracing themselves for a tough month.
However, things are beginning to look up for the North London club. With Henrikh Mkhitaryan arriving as part of the Sanchez deal, there is hope that the Armenian can hit the heights of his time at Borussia Dortmund.
The other potential high profile arrival at the Emirates is Pierre Emerick Aubamayang. The Gabonese striker is widely regarded as one of the most lethal strikers in Europe, and would represent a real injection of talent in the Arsenal attack.
Giving an update on the situation, Arsene Wenger revealed that a deal is not close for the striker [via The Independent].
“[We] are not close to doing any deals.”
However, he did confirm that the club are in talks for Aubamayang.
“He is one of our possible movements but there are others. The final decision is not made. You look at players what can they give to the team. Good players can always play together.”
Gaining the services of the 28-year-old striker would come as a breath of fresh air for Arsenal, and all fans of the club will be eager to see the deal go through in the coming weeks.
