Though his long-term future at the club remains in doubt, Wayne Rooney is obviously still as passionate about Manchester United Football Club as ever.
United clinched their 5th ever English League Cup today with a 3-2 victory over Southampton in a thriller at Wembley Stadium.
After going 2-0 up thanks to goals from the inimitable Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Jesse Lingard, United were hauled back to even terms by ‘The Saints’ – a brace from Manolo Gabbiadini their saving grace.
However, Ibrahimovic once again proved United’s hero, snatching victory in the embers of normal time. A powerful header from the swaggering Swede beating Fraser Forster in the Southampton goal in the 87th minute.
And there was nobody in the stadium who it meant more to than Rooney.

Though Rooney started on the bench and remained on the sidelines throughout, as United captain he was the one to accept the trophy on the club’s behalf.
