Mourinho Furious At Anthony Martial’s Man United Pre-Season Tour Exit [Report]

Jose Mourinho is reportedly furious at Anthony Martial’s decision to leave Manchester United’s pre-season camp to return to Paris.

Martial left the United States on Wednesday to return home for the birth of his child, but, as per multiple reports, Mourinho is furious that he was given such little notice before the French international departed.

The manager did address the matter after Man United’s clash with AC Milan on Wednesday night, and confirmed that Martial had given him just three days’ notice before leaving for Paris. He also stopped short of stating whether or not the 22-year-old had the express permission of both himself and the club before leaving.

“I found out that he was going to Paris when he told me. It was three days ago.

”You know, when it is personal reasons, everyone analyses that the way they think is the correct way and, when a man is going to be a father, in this case it’s the second time that he is going to be a father, and he decides that it is very important for him to go, I think nobody has the right to stop him to go.”

The aforementioned reports have suggested that Martial has no intention of flying back out to the US to resume his participation in the tour, which will do little to improve what is an already strained relationship between player and manager.

It will also increase the likelihood of Martial being sold before the end of the transfer window. Man United to be open to offers for the former Monaco man – and while Chelsea and Bayern Munich appear to be the frontrunners right now, Man United don’t want to sell to a domestic rival, while Bayern would need for Martial’s asking price to be lowered to get them to come to the table.

In any event, it’s another headache for Mourinho to deal with in a pre-season campaign that has been short in positivity. The manager has been deeply unhappy at the number of first-team players he has been without in the US, not to mention the slow progress in bringing new signings to Old Trafford ahead of the new Premier League season.
