Chelsea’ look set to have a new manager and first summer signing in place in the very near future.
With confirmation coming through on Friday morning that Antonio Conte had been relieved of his duties as head coach, leaving the way clear for former Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri to take the reins at Stamford Bridge. The Serie A side, who still have Sarri under contract, have been in discussions with Chelsea to agree on a compensation fee and it is believed that everything has now been concluded.
Indeed, according to reports in Italy, Sarri is already on his way to London.

Chelsea are also closing in on their first major summer signing of the transfer window, with Napoli midfielder Jorginho set to follow his former manager to the Premier League club. The Italian international was thought at one stage to be heading to Manchester City, but Sarri and Chelsea have managed to convince him to forego a season of Champions League football and move to West London instead.

Assuming both deals get over the line, Jorginho and Sarri should be at Chelsea by this weekend at a total cost of around €65m to secure both signings. Attention will then turn towards securing Sarri and Chelsea’s other summer targets, believed to include players such as Aleksandr Golovin and Daniele Rugani.
Barcelona, meanwhile, have come back in for Willian after seeing their first bid turned town. The Catalan giants are reported to have offered around €60m for the Brazilian international – still below Chelsea’s asking price, but possibly enough to at least keep them at the negotiating table.
