Aston Villa recorded a comfortable 3-0 victory against Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium with the third goal coming from Republic of Ireland international, Glenn Whelan.
A first-half goal from James Chester had Villa up and running before Tammy Abraham made it 2-0 to the visitors with less than 30 minutes remaining.
Whelan then put the result beyond doubt in the 83rd minute when the ball was played back to him outside the box as he hit a first-time strike towards his international colleague, Darren Randolph.
Unfortunately for Randolph, his attempt to stop the shot saw the ball spin into the bottom corner at the goalkeeper’s near-post.

That win sees Aston Villa rise to eighth in the Championship table. Just three points away from the playoff positions.
That wasn’t the only goalkeeping clanger we saw today. Sheffield United’s Dean Henderson had a day to forget as a costly mistake saw Leeds secure a 1-0 victory and with that, second spot in the table.
