Real Madrid manager, Julen Lopetegui, has been sacked after the 52-year-old oversaw the club’s worst start to a season since 2001-02.
The straw which broke the camel’s back was clearly the 5-1 loss to their bitter rivals Barcelona at the weekend.
The Spaniard succeeded Zinedine Zidane this summer but the latest loss to Barcelona was their fifth loss in six games.
Real Madrid are currently in ninth place in the La Liga standings with 14 points from a possible 30.
The club said he will be “provisionally replaced” by ex-player Santiago Solari, currently coach of B team Castilla.
