Declan Rice To Release Statement On His Future Next Week [Report]

Declan Rice is expected to release a statement on his international future after Ireland complete their fixture with Poland next week.

The Republic of Ireland have been rocked by the news of Rice wanting to take time to consider his international allegiance after the West Ham midfielder met with Gareth Southgate in June.

The 19-year-old is not in the squad for the upcoming clashes with Wales and Poland but according to a report on Wednesday in The Irish Daily Star, the teenager is expected to pursue his international footballing career with the Republic of Ireland.

It is understood that a statement from the London-born midfielder will be released after next Tuesday’s friendly with Poland in Wroclaw.

This statement is expected to outline Rice’s intentions to play for Martin O’Neill’s side and that will then put him in the frame for the Republic’s back-to-back UEFA Nations League clashes against Denmark and Wales in October.

Of course, for many Ireland fans, their fears won’t be allayed until they see Rice line out in green in a competitive fixture.

Hopefully, that will be in October.
