Arsenal Agree Club-Record Fee With Dortmund For Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang [Report]

Arsene Wenger’s search for a new striker looks to be coming to an end with reports emerging last night that Arsenal have agreed on a fee with Borussia Dortmund for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

After Sanchez completed his move to Manchester United last week with Henrikh Mkhitaryan going in the opposite direction, all eyes were focussed on Germany to see whether the north-London club could pull off a deal which would see one of Europe’s top strikers ply his trade in the Premier League.

According to reports, personal terms have already been agreed but it was the transfer fee which was holding up negotiations with Arsenal already having two bids knocked back by the 2011/2012 Bundesliga winners.

According to David Ornstein of BBC Sport, the two clubs are on the verge of agreeing on a club-record of £60 million for the Gabonese 28-year-old.

However, there is one issue which could potentially hold up the deal – Dortmund cannot sanction the move until they source a replacement for Aubameyang with Olivier Giroud among the reported replacements the German club are believed to be eyeing up.

Aubameyang played for Dortmund in their draw with Freiburg at the weekend, the first time the 28-year-old has started for the club since December 16.
