Gary Lineker has reported that there has been a food poisoning issue at Tottenham Hotspur, just days before their crucial game against Norwich.

All Spurs need to do is to avoid defeat against an already relegated Norwich and they will finish ahead of Arsenal and in the Champions League places.

Harry Kane is said to be one of the players who has come down with some sort of illness, approximately 48 hours before their biggest game of the season.

Lineker took to Twitter to say report the news about his former club, while stating that he was not joking.

Spurs’ food poison issue

The reason one may think that Lineker is joking about this subject is not just because of the manner in which he posts online.

Those old enough to remember will recall back in 2006, where it looked like Spurs were likely to finish ahead of Arsenal until the final day of the season.

This was when a bout of severe food poisoning afflicted the Tottenham squad the night before their final match away at West Ham, and the weakened team was noticeably off-form during the match itself.

Needing a victory, they succumbed to a 2-1 defeat at Upton Park thanks to a late Yossi Benayoun strike. With Arsenal winning 4-2 against Wigan at Highbury, Arsene Wenger’s side leapfrogged Tottenham at the last possible moment.

Spurs’ food poison issue

A number of players missed Spurs’ game against Burnley last week with a stomach bug, so perhaps this same issue has remained in the camp throughout the week.

The latest reports to have emerged suggest that Kane has cancelled a media event he was due to attend on Friday night due to his illness.

Spurs fans will be keeping a close eye on the club’s social media accounts to see which players participated in training ahead of the Norwich game.
