Genuinely incredible stuff.

Fan footage has become commonplace in football, with the quality of iPhone cameras now able to capture incredible video evidence from inside the stadiums at football matches.

It has become the norm to see excellent footage from a fan’s perspective, but for the majority of historic football moments, this wasn’t the case.

Think of the iconic footballing moments that took place before smartphones were the norm, and wonder what it would be like to witness them from numerous angles.

Well, you can scratch one off the list thanks to the incredible camcorder video of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Champions League final winner in the last minute of the 1999 game.

Manchester United needed a hero against Bayern Munich, with the game set to go to extra-time, and Solskjaer popped up to drive the United fans in Barcelona and around the rest of the world absolutely wild.

This footage, which somehow looks a lot more modern than it should, shows just how wild the fans went in the stadium, 23 years ago today.

Thomas Coxhead shared the video, alongside the caption: “My Dad snuck his camcorder into the Nou Camp. He didn’t film any of the game but got it out for the last 5 minutes. This is one of the greatest things I’ve ever seen. We’ve never shared this footage, until now…”

Take a look and enjoy, particularly if you’re a Man United fan:

In the past, Solskjaer admitted that he was “pissed off” by Alex Ferguson’s behaviour in the dressing room at half-time during the game.

Ferguson spoke to Teddy Sheringham at length in the dressing room, with Solskjaer annoyed that he felt he was being overlooked.

He said: “That’s the way to trigger me; to make me feel: ‘I’m going to prove you wrong’.”

Worked out pretty well in the end…
