A potential distraction ahead of the big game…
Jurgen Klopp has responded to the rumours linking Liverpool forward Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich.
Rumours are continuing to grow about Mane’s future, with the Senegal talisman’s contract due to expire at the end of next season.
If he were to stay around this summer, he could leave for free 12 months later, and his latest comments only fueled the fire that he could be off in a few weeks’ time.
In an interview, he said that he will be revealing whether he is leaving or staying after the Champions League final, with Liverpool fans questioning why he felt the need to say anything at all before the game.
Klopp on the other hand said that Mane is 100% committed to Liverpool, and that he is focused on the game despite the transfer links.
Jurgen Klopp on Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich links
“Sadio is in the shape of his life,” he said. “For sure he’s in brilliant shape and it’s a joy to watch him at the moment in training and in the games.
“We ask him a lot, football asks him a lot this year, incredible long season, lot of finals and these kind of things so for sure it’s one of the most successful so far for him and for us.”
He said: “The Bayern Munich rumours I couldn’t care less in the moment, we are all fully focussed on the game, Sadio is completely focused on the game.
“He knows how important it is to him, how important it is to us, so no concerns, completely normal.
“It’s not the first time in my career that before decisive games Bayern Munich rumours coming up, don’t know why, exactly what I did, why that happens, but no problem at all.”
Mane is almost guaranteed to start against Real Madrid on Saturday night, and Liverpool fans will be eagerly awaiting his comments after the match.
