A man-of-the-match performance from the Irishman.
Liam Scales has had quite the few days over in Scotland. On Sunday he scored his first goal in a Celtic jersey against Dundee, just moments after being brought off the bench.

And now he is picking up man-of-the-match awards in Europa League games against some of the most established teams in Europe.
Thursday night saw a much-changed Celtic side take on Real Betis in their final Europa League game, and while there was very little actually riding on the result, it was a great chance for some youngsters to let manager Angelos Postecoglou know that they are well able to step in if needs be.
And by and large, they took that chance, beating the Spanish side 3-2. While there were some excellent and exciting attacking performances across the pitch, it was Scales who impressed the most.

BBC awarded the former Shamrock Rovers defender man-of-the-match, writing: “Scales was influential with more passes and touches than any of his teammates. The Irishman looked composed.”
Elsewhere, Celtic legend Chris Sutton who was on commentary for the game, was also really impressed by the Wicklow native.
On a number of occasions throughout the game, Sutton went out of his way to say that he “liked” Scales, praising his composure on the ball and his ability to put in a crunching tackle when necessary.

Scales defended well against a really strong Betis team, and put in some lovely, crisp passes to the strikers’ feet.
If he keeps putting in these types of performances when given the chance, perhaps the left-back spot at Celtic will be his to lose in the near future.
He will also be looking to break into the Starting XI on an number of occasions over the next few weeks, as Celtic have seven games between now and 2 January.
