A company man…

Gary Neville criticised BT Sport’s coverage of Champions League final, and the way in which the station performs in general, in a Tweet posted on Saturday night.

Neville seemed particularly unhappy with how BT were covering the Champions League final, and the delays that came with it.

Kick-off was delayed on a number of occasions, with fans unable to get into the 75,000 capacity venue in the French capital.

Initially the game was due to start at 8pm, before it then was pushed back to 8.15pm. Minutes later, it was then scheduled to begin at 8.30pm. It finally kicked off at 8.36pm.

Fans watching at home or elsewhere were not being updated regularly about what was happening, with Athletic journalist Adam Crafton blaming BT Sport for the lack of clarity.

He tweeted: “Surprised BT sport don’t have a team on standby outside of stadium, getting little to no sense of the major story from the broadcaster.”

Neville replied to this Tweet, writing: “Are you surprised? I’m not. They can’t react or aren’t agile to things like this happening.”

Football fans will be aware that Neville is a regular face on Sky Sports, a major competitor of BT.

BT have the rights to all Champions League games, meaning Neville does not get to cover the biggest games in club football.

BT’s team on Saturday night included Peter Crouch, Michael Owen, Rio Ferdinand and Steven Gerrard.

Aside from his disappointment with the coverage, Neville loved the Champions League final from the first minute until the last.

He was sharing regular tweets throughout the game, one of which was him celebrating in a pub after Real Madrid went a goal up on Liverpool.

After the game he summed it up by saying: “It’s really normal to be happy tonight if you’re a United fan! I’m f*****g ecstatic!”
